Blood shortages kill people who could have been saved: mothers bleeding after childbirth, patients in surgery, anyone in a rural area whose blood type is not in stock nearby. BetaLife Health was founded in Lagos to close that gap.
The team built a platform, on iOS and Android, that links hospitals and patients to the blood banks and donors around them. Its AI forecasts where blood will be needed, so donors can be engaged before a shortage rather than after it, and stock can be moved to where it will be used instead of expiring on a shelf.
BetaLife was selected for Google's 2025 Africa Accelerator and was first runner-up at the 2025 Wharton Africa Business Forum New Venture Competition, sponsored by Adaptive.
